Despite seeing Black Sabbath and Sir Lord Baltimore at the Fillmore East in 1971...I basically can't stand metal.

There's nothing civil about this war.
I'm fond of some metal- the early stuff like Black Sabbath or Deep Purple; or Van Halen and Cliff Burton era Metallica. But most is meh to me. Especially the "COOOOKIEEEEE COOOOKIEEE" stuff with too much tempo.
ETA: However, Mongolian folk metal band "The Hu" is pretty awesome. Throat singing, heavy metal, and lyrics about Genghis Khan.

I don't know what counts as cookie monster metal, but Message in Blood is possibly the best song ever. Ev. Ar.
In other "Things I Never Would Have Bet On" news...
I know a guy who is a phenomenal guitarist. But what he really likes is EDM. He actually has some tracks on Youtube and...Soundcloud? I think that's what a lot of guys do. But he showed me how he created and mixed them. While it wasn't really anything I'd listen to, the effort and talent is impressive, plus the pride of putting your work out in front of the world. Can't hate on that.
Link for reference. I vaguely recall it's been linked on the forum before.
