    My phase 3 baseline

Since I’m doing more IDPA this year I did standard start position.

Concealed, arms relaxed at sides. AIWB holster. 7 yard targets.

SWYNTS Phase 3 is conveniently an IDPA target turned on side.

Ran it at USPSA match vision (using all the scoring zone):

2.26 seconds. It would NOT be 10/10 reproducible. Maybe 7-8/10?

Ran it a few times at ~ 2.0 second pace.

Too fast for me to do reliably from concealment. Maybe 2-3/10 clean runs.

I definitely feel the rust from being away from pistol.

But that’s the point. Start with a baseline and work up.

Doesn’t matter if I feel embarrassed or proud or whatever. I’ll be better in a month.

I have a spring and weight combination that is working well for the SP01 now.

Easier to shoot. Easy <20 splits on the 8” and 30-40 on the 4”.

I spent a good amount of time on SWYNTS Phase 3. More than I planned on because I was learning so much.

My first run was a 2.57. The next 5 or so rounds hovered around 2.4-2.7. This was when I was getting frustrated. I was trying to get to much dot stability on the follow up shots and it was messing with my recoil timing. I was splitting round .3 on the 8" and .5 on the 4"

I proceeded to shoot more freely and my times decreased by a decent amount while maintaining the same accuracy. I started putting runs together of 2.1x-2-4x and my splits were around .25 on the 8" and .3x-.4 on the 4".

My best runs were 2.1x-2.2x. Not because of time but because of recoil control. It was subconscious.

    Shooting to vision

    @JCS can appreciate this one.

    I did a PCC thing...

Tried artificially shooting to a pace to go for better hits and give more margin... went poorly.

Finally got my head out of my ass and went back to shooting to vision and let the natural cadence flow.

Did very well and consistently. It reinforces that shooting to vision and learning your resonant cadence is so important for performance.

Instead of trying to make it something it's not, I went with what it is... and that's something you only get with specific, dedicated practice at seeing where shots are for what vision.

Something that forcing into artificial boxes like dot torture or other small no fail tests don't get you in training.

Long winded way of saying, this SWYNTS training is so critical to knowing what you can do and learning vision. Keep it up and keep training!

2 Target cross-cross. 7 yds. Goal was <0.20 splits and transitions on lower A zones, and <0.3 on uppers.

    Yes. All combinations.

Speeding up splits and transitions on the upper A zones was my goal for this drill. My comfort zone is to shoot the smaller targets reactively, so I want to push into the predictive times.

Today I worked 7,10,15 yd 2-2-2. Started with close 7yd as the baseline, then widened. Then added distance. I’m exploring how close to the baseline time I can get, while maintaining precision. (I really like the white circle pasters.)

I also shot 50 rounds of .22, 1-1-1, working on critically damped transitions.
