    That .357 Magnum Federal HST performance in not too different from Winchester's Silvertip HP load. There would be an expected advantage due to the HST design, though. Would like to see expanded bullet pictures.

    As for the 9mm Federal HST 147 grain performance, my data is a bit different...
    Bare gelatin 12.0 inches penetration, .85 inches expansion
    Heavy cloth 12.5 inches penetration, .69 inches expansion
    Sub 30 ounce .357s may want 125-145 gr, unless you are worried about 4 legged predators as well. If worried about both the 154 HST is a balanced load for around and in town ventures. Obviously if only worried about lions, tigers, and bears way out there then something heavier or perhaps hardcast should be considered.
    154 is fairly stout but fine in the heavier revolvers. Advantages would be in barrier penetration & weight retention/holding together. Recovered HSTs look just like marketing pictures on the box, full uniform expansion.
