    Ruger AR15 Police Trade-In's

These are at AIM Surplus for $500.00 - probably not much shooting wear. You can't have too many AR's.

Was a bit surprised to see these. I like Ruger well enough but it's hard to see how an LE agency doesn't go M&P15 Sport II at that price point.

Either way, always enjoy a good trade-in. Thanks for posting.

Not surprised these sold out quickly. That is a good price for a good budget AR.

I am curious: what would motivate a police department to trade in guns that remain quite useful?

    1) desire to get something better. This rifle works but leaves a lot to be desired.

    2) standardization. Could be they had different models in use; could be they had a combination of some AR15s and some other long guns (shotguns, SMGs) and dropped the latter and decided to issue all AR15s but wanted to go with a different AR-15 than what they purchased 10 years ago; could be the agency got absorbed by another.

    3) the big one: expiration of a contract's service and support
