Pistol Brace Upgrade - For those not registering

Having decided to, one way or another, reconfigure any short-barreled uppers and side-step registering any braced pistols, I was looking to re-use the SB3 brace that I have. I threw it on a 16" M&P 15-22 and I think I will keep it there. I looked at the Split Fix strap as a way to firm up the brace for shouldering, but then was considering carving up a piece of wood to fit inside the void of that brace to make it even more stock-like. Then I thought that someone had probably already come up with a better solution. A quick search turned this up: Devoid Brace Plugs.

For $20, I think I will give it a go. This strikes me as, literally, a guy working out of his garage, but that's fine with me. If anyone knows of a better solution, please advise.

That YouTube video is very much worth watching, and sets forth the arguments for our side very well.

However, I respectfully disagree that there is no clear way to advice a client about how to comply with the rules. With the disclaimer that I am not anyone's attorney here and I am providing general information and not legal advice, I believe I have set forth a roadmap to compliance in the General Discussion thread if one wishes to keep their AR pistol configured as a pistol.

While I do not wish to prepare ATF's argument for them, and I disagree with their position, we do need to keep in mind that their position is not frivolous, and we ignore the strengths of their position at our peril.

At the end of the day everyone should have seen this coming. The brace is to circumvent the NFA and the ATF was going to put a stop to it at some point. Just like the bump stocks are to circumvent full auto sears. The fucking house always wins in the long run.

Rather than spend $20 to further molest a janky part, toss it in the trash and put that $20 toward a MOE stock and put it on whatever gun you want it on.

Let's see, first the ATF said pistol braces were okay, some time passes, then the ATF said pistol were not okay, some time passes again, then ATF said pistol braces were okay again, some time passes and now the ATF is saying pistol braces are not okay. All from a weaponized federal government agency that can't legally write laws only enforce laws. What they are doing is illegal as hell. Next they will come for *your* AR, and any high-cap rifle or pistol mags that you own plus a whole lot more. They have a step by step by step plan over time to ban ****************** ALL ******************** FIREARMS. And if there are many gun owners with a defeatist {the house always wins} attitude likes yours they will absolutely success.
