Interesting! I'll have to try that in my British New Service...

As C&S is closing up I just placed my last order for a small cache of those sights. I will happily trade no sharp edges for the effort required to re-zero them.
What thickness sheet brass are you using?

36 Gauge (.005" Thick) and it often takes between 4 and 9 layers to get the shim height I need, I cut very small rectangles the width of the sight channel, place them just in front of the rear screw, and lay them in until I have it high enough, when verified I go back and loctite 243 both screws.

    this stuff

We used to make wrap around front sight shrouds out of that stuff for cowboy guns since paint is not legal (at least in NCOWS) and epoxy them in place for front sight contrast.

Easier to buy smaller quantities on ebay, that roll is more than a lifetime supply for all the uses I have for that stuff.

Poa/poi is pretty close. A little left at 20 yards. I'll bring a file next time I shoot.

Range report on my 2-3/4" Colt New Service .455

.45 ACP military ball headspaces on the chamber cone without a clip. Cylinder is original .455 Eley and has NOT been shaved. Use a BIC pen to poke out the ACP empties.

Speer 250-grain Deep Curl JHP with 4 grains of Bullseye in Starline brass expands well in water jugs. Stops in 4th gallon jug. Good penetration at 650 fps. This load is too hot for the top-break Webleys, but fine in the New Service.
