    1911 no A1

This one showed up at my LGS a couple of days ago. Manufactured in 1917 and all original. The harsh cellphone picks don't do it justice, it has quite a bit of original finish remaining. It carried a princely price, but I can't remember the last time I saw one like this outside of an upscale auction, or museum. One of the few grails I have left, found.

Thanks! I had to give up a couple of other wonderful things to finance it, but such is the grownup life. 😀

A war issued 1911 is on my “Grail” list as well.

I can only hope that CMP gets hold of some M9s as well.

The classic Biblical "Pearl of Great Price".

A CMP mix master really didn't interest me, having lived with them for a few years in service, they don't represent anything special in my mind. But, when the shop got two of these in from an estate, my interest was piqued. An unadulterated WW1 example? Oh yeah. The second one was manufactured in 1912, in good shape mechanically but with zero finish remaining. The price was half again as much as this one.

Notice the two notches carved into the right grip panel. We won't speculate on that.

I didn't notice that. That's a pretty fucking cool piece of history. Even if Louis Lamour says only amateurs do that.

I was going to ask when double diamond grips came into production.

I've always wanted to build a service pistol wall. Right now I have a pietta 1860 copy but I'd love to find a few genuine articles.

Nice. I had one for a few years, built in 1917 as well. Based on the markings, it had been through the “re-arsenal” process, which really hurt the collector’s value.
