    GP100 or PCC Comp 19?

I'm fairly sure I know the answer but felt like posting.
Do I buy the tried and true Ruger GP100($750.00) or do I buy the new hotness Smith & Wesson Model 19 Performance Center Carry Comp 357($950.00). Both are used, both at the same store.
Will I ever carry it? No. I'm just buying it to have a . 357. I have a SP101(selling it) now but want something I can shoot any . 357 round through and it soaks up some recoil (either by weight or comp).

It’s really hard to argue against a GP100 as a non-specialized .357 GADA (Go Anywhere, Do Anything).

    Quick question...

Is the GP-100 bone stock with a 4" barrel?

It doesn't look like a 4 inch barrel. I haven't seen it in person, just looked at the picture over the last two weeks.
(Hopefully one of the pictures works)

That's a not unreasonable price for the Carry Comp Smith, but it's too much money for the GP100.

I'd buy the 4" adjustable sighted model instead.
I was into 10mm Auto before it sold out and went mainstream, but these days I'm here for the revolver and epidemiology information.

Thank you. I thought it was a good price. I'm glad I posted.

    The above is good advice.

My own "if I can have only one revolver" revolver is a GP-100 with very little done to it...

If it was just a range gun I'd say get the cheaper one. The Smith will have a better trigger and the comp does help. For target use the Smith also has better sights.

The Smith will be easier to conceal but you say that's not going to happen. I think you should try. Concealing a 3" k frame is borderline magic in terms of comfort and capability.

The new 19s don't have the flat on the bottom of the barrel so strength should be a wash.

My 66-8 has over 25k full power magnums and that many heavy .38s.

I had to replace the cylinder stop after all that to fix it from skipping chambers but that has nothing to do with strength.

It looks like you were considering the 3” GP100 which lists about for $50 more than your used price.

I like my 3” WC GP a lot and the gun you considered with some kind of front night sight upgrade would be a Jeep quality “Go anywhere do anything” revolver.
