I figure I “need” a Limited gun for Steel Challenge so I can get some trigger time with the gun.

If I like it enough then I’ll send it off for optic milling (or buy another one).

    Ordered some mag extensions.

The mag release has me a little concerned since it’s supposedly specific to this gun.

I usually like a bigger paddle and a weaker spring.

    We shall see.

I am between this and the Staccato for my single action 9mm wants. Just waiting for some high round guys to get some time on it first.

I figure if I can stay with same angle / index it’ll cut down on my cross platform train up time.

Same thing with magazine size and geometry.

Will see though. I might just make the switch to 2011s.

How do you think they assemble, er make, a Les Baer? I assure you, this was not the first time a dremel touched your "custom" pistol.

Absolutely. They’re tools and I customize them further for my use.

To be fair, all I got to on the Les Baer was the front sight so far though.

I did similar on a 92. I made up a 5/16" round brass extender about 7 inches long. One end in the drill and a 1/16 bit in the other end. This way I could drill from rear to front w/o needing a lot of angle. The paint filled dimple became my drill guide so the FO ended up in exactly the same place as the OE white dot. A 1/16 bit is .062" which works nicely w/ .060" FO tube.

I got to handle a full size that had been milled for a SRO by Primary Machine at a match this past weekend. It was impressive enough that I started searching for one when I got home. A lack of availability and needing to machine a $2000 gun are the only thing that stopped me buying one. I’ve been pretty happy with the Shadow 2 OR mounting system on my CO guns. I hope Dan Wesson releases the DWX with a similar system.
