RFI: Austin, TX - Things to do and places to eat

So my wife booked us for a vacation to Austin in March 2023. It'll just be us, and my son who will turn 10 the week after. Anything of note that we shouldn't miss?

Not an Austin expert but I've been there for business a few times. After the first time I was taken to the Roaring Fork downtown, I've been back twice. The green chile pork stew appetizer, the bone-in ribeye, and the Mexican street corn are all fantastic. I had the exact same thing each time I was there. Very nice decor and atmosphere - a certain coziness, reasonably upscale without being obnoxious.

Looking at the menu just now made me really f***ing hungry.

    Some good shows in March...

Thanks for making me look.... Buddy Guy has 2 shows the first weekend in March. Need to see if Wife can get away that weekend.
The Greyhounds are great live, regardless of who they are opening for.
Honestly, the place has a vibe that makes anything short of the Drag Queen concert worth seeing, and even that might just be great too, but, maybe not for a 10yo.
The place is fairly kid friendly... excellent venue, nothing sketchy inside, although the homelessness in Austin is everywhere.
We took our son there when he was 14 or so. He loved it.

The rodeo will be in town from the 10th to the 25th. https://rodeoaustin.com

Touring the state capital might be of interest https://tspb.texas.gov/plan/tours/tours.html

Bob Bullock State history museum as well https://www.thestoryoftexas.com/

The Bats under the Congress street bridge probably won't be back from Mexico.

I can't believe I forgot to mention this in my post below. The Texas State Museum blew me away. One of the most captivating museums of any kind I've been to. After 2 hours my wife and son wished to move on, but I could have stayed for another few hours.

Isn’t Franklins the place you have to get in line at 7:30am for a shot at lunch?

Not very bright but does lack ambition
I like Salt Lick for decent BBQ, and the wait isn’t brutal.
