I of course plan to get a REIN 3.0 and am stoked to see it will also run on CR123a; that was my sole complaint about their other lights. On the negative side I already have an OWL and a REIN 1.0 so it kind of sucks that they leapfrogged the 2.0 without ever really having 'em in stock. I like CPI but it makes me wonder if I wait a few months should I see if the 4.0 will be out by March?

    Received my 3.0.

Its very powerful, well thought-out, well made light.

Their approach to cable management and battery lock-up is better than Modlite.

Unfortunately, they shipped the wrong hardware (nuts and side plate) for the light switch so it can't be mounted.

I do not believe you received the light. There is no photographic proof...

Yes, I am aware of that. However, rather than going to a separate vendor to purchase spares, which then creates the dilemma of, do I spend $8 for shipping, or do I purchase $38 more dollars of products I didn’t need to get free shipping? It would be nice if I could just add a couple of extras to my cart when I purchased the light.

Ya I understand that. For reference here is the battery that it uses https://www.batteryspace.com/li-ion-...-3-passed.aspx

This is one of the shortfalls of StreamLight - their typical beam pattern and color temperature are not the best.

How would you describe the Chicro beam pattern? Is it more diffuse with a wider hot spot? Are there rings in the beam pattern? Color temperature?

For an "administrative" light I would want a wide, diffuse beam pattern, a neutral color temp and high CRI to provide an easy-on-the-eyes beam for up close work.

    Thanks!

I'm not the best person to answer the questions. I took some photos with my iPhone of the beam. It has a definitive hot spot. The full on bright is probably overkill for a task light. It would be a bit much if I shined it at a piece of paper at night. But for a AAA size EDC light I like it. It's more blue than yellow. Color does not translate on iPhone photos.

Is the full size or micro rein too much light for indoor use on an ar?

    Thinking home defense application.

I don’t think so. I have a full size one on my primary HD rifle and my office recently bought some for our work rifles. Just don’t flash yourself in the eyes with a mirror. You also don’t have to directly illuminate light colored walls to see things. You can bounce light off of floors and ceilings to illuminate a large chunk of the room. There are ways to mitigate producing more light than you probably need, but if you can’t produce the light you need because your flashlight isn’t strong enough, there are no ways to increase its power.
