    As per your request.

In full disclosure, the brush is likely made in the PRC. Indeed, the badger fur for such brushes usually is sourced in the PRC even if the rest of the brush is made elsewhere.

Ok, I've got some homework/window shopping and then experimenting to do. I think I'll take a dive on a brush and soap, and try that with the Twig/Feather combo. My neck already feels a lot better today than from previous shaves, so hopefully refining the prep will just help that much more.

Also, for anyone looking for something a little easier or shallower learning curve than a traditional DE, or just an alternative to have on hand, I highly recommend the Leaf products. They use regular DE blades, so you get the cost savings there plus the ability to tweak your shave with blade selection, but they're just a bit simpler to use (again, not the thing if you truly are looking for a new hobby). The three-blade model (I only load two) is doing great for my head after I took the "oh, duh" advice of others here to use it in the shower.

Sidebar: For those of you wet shaving in your shower, what shower mirror are you using? I still haven't found one that doesn't fog up immediately and make it impossible to see.

    Thanks!

With absolutely nothing to compare it to, I'm happy with this one so far .... All 2 shaves have been good. Lol.

If you find one, please let me know.
I tried mounting a little battery fan to blow a breeze across my shower mirror. Like a car defroster. Sorta worked except that the suction cup liked to let go mid shower.

Today was the second day shaving with new supplies I ordered from West Coast Shaving. With the weather recently, it took them a long time to get here.

I ended up ordering some Wool Fat after figuring out why it has that name - I've discovered recently that my skin rather likes lanolin products, so I figured it was a good bet. Also got a tin for it, a synthetic brush, and a restock of Feathers.

Even though I can tell I have plenty of room to improve my technique, doing the full wet shave routine is already making a huge difference. This also isn't nearly as difficult or fussy as I'd expected, so I should have done this sooner.

Added to my cart. I've been meaning to replace my current shower mirror as it's a couple years old and due. Hard water in IN has taught me to treat all shower mirrors as disposable. As for the fogging, I use the shower wand to rinse it off as necessary during my shave.

When I was a very young child, there was a family that basically ran an unlicensed daycare and pretty much every family in that small town used their services at some point. At 55, I can still smell the mildew reek of their primary bathroom. Because of that, I've installed shower wands in every shower in every house I ever lived in and well before I started shaving my head. The last act of my shower is to rinse off every surface, including the back of the curtain, which I leave mostly open while I blast a standing fan into the bathroom as I get dressed for the day. Guess it really scarred me.

    Anyway, shower wands FTW!

I'm using a similar mirror that still gets foggy. Every so often I take it off the hook and rinse both sides. That lasts for a few minutes. I tried RainX on it but only had a slight improvement. I've considered trying a battery powered fan but haven't gotten around to trying that yet.

I have had at least two variations of that mirror. In the end, I found shaving at the sink or in the tub a far better experience than fighting fog in the shower.

For me, shaving at the sink gives me the best results re seeing what i need to see, hearing what I need to hear and having the “room” to stretch my skin.
