I think the metal frame feels incredible. However, a guy I know who shoots the M&P at a very high level continues to shoot the 5 inch polymer versions in competition.

I think Donovan over at P1T broke the top ten at area 4 from AIWB with a 4 inch polymer frame too. That dude can shred it up with a G19 sized gun in carry optics.

They're finally giving the people what they want with a steel frame gun. Of course, S&W is milking it with an over-priced special edition. Spec weight is almost 37 ounces.

Perfect, this looks like it will dominate USPSA open class.

This is definitely not what the competition crowd was asking for. As usual S&W is behind and does not listen to their customer base. All we want is a plain black M&P 9 M2.0 5 inch with a steel frame. Not whatever this gas station abomination is. I understand other models will be coming later, but it still does not change how lame this thing is for the people that have been waiting.

It’s been noted that this is just the first version of the steel frame that they are coming out with. They have more SKUs to release with steel over the next year or so, I imagine there will either be a competition version or at least a plain full size version.

Yeah, I take this particular SKU as more of an attempt at drumming up buzz at Shot rather than the primary offering in the steel lineup. I expect a SKU configured similar the current 5" competitor but with the new steel frame will be offered shortly.
