    Smith & Wesson M&P 2.0 5in Metal Competitor

Apologies if this has been posted. S&W emailed out this advertisement for its new 5 in barrel metal M&P. Interesting. I am actually surprised its lighter than the 4.25 model, with "lightening cuts." Interesting. Still think a steel version without "lightening cuts" would be better to compete in USPSA/IDPA CO and Production classes.

Why can't S&W be half as smart as Canik and others that realize metal frame means steel and not alloy. Leaked pics of new Canik steel frame.

Likes pretty much everything in every caliber.

Yup, an aluminum frame pistol that weighs the same as the plastic one seems pointless.

Speaking of Smith and Wesson missed opportunities.

    Maybe next year.

A 2011 or Sphinx SDP style frame would have been better, and possibly cheaper to produce.

Steel sub-frame (ideally with a Sphinx style integral recoil buffer) with a polymer or aluminum grip screwed onto it.

That said, it's a cool looking pistol, and I'd like to see a 'Stack a Toe' version with apex parts.

Sounds cool but what's a stack a toe?

Phonetic “Staccato” denoting a budget or built 2011 stand-in option, usually out of a different model gun
