Man in the loop versus man in the seat are dramatically different in reactionary times and the ability to respond to unforeseen changes.
IIRC they were going to make 100 B-2's at initially.
We could isolate Russia totally from the world and maybe they could apply for membership after 2000 years.
I don't think it's so much the number of aircraft built as the research/development that goes into building one. The technology will always be there to build 100.
The cost of building everything we know how to build in large numbers isn't feasible.
These projects have another effect also. How does Russia or China know how many we've built or what it's capability is. The fact that the roll out was made public tells me that the military wants everyone to know that something like this may actually exist in the US arsenal.
I'm sure we'll see a few of these at some air shows in the next few years.
