He came home for boot leave then reported back to MCRD to what I would call medical holding company for treatment. I talk to him every week or so and it seems he is making the most of this setback, he's read a good portion of the Commandant's reading list and has gotten a couple of coins from different Recruit Battalion Commanders for volunteering to help with things. He went to the Marine Corps Ball, although it seemed weird that they had it before the 10th.

After he's released, he'll go to Pendleton for ITB, then on to MSG.
Do you mean Marine Security Guard? Because you can't go through that school that soon.

    Do you mean security forces?

The MSG program started pulling directly from boot years ago after doubling the size of MCESG post-Benghazi.

Possibly. There's no shortage of magic wand waiving in the military to make ends meet, either, so it might also be accomplished with a combination for waivers and administrative promotions. To wit, all Green Berets must be atleast Sergeant, so they started administratively promoting guys to Sergeant with zero experience in the Army who signed up for the 18X pipeline.

FWIW, the impact we've noticed on the program is generally what you could assume from using Marines so young with no experience, whereas previously it was all NCOs. Stuff like covering for the Marine so he can go get chow, and over an hour later he comes bee-bopping back not realizing that meant grab something nearby and bring it back to eat....don't turn off your cell phone, take a train to your favorite place on the other side of town, and have a sit down meal.

We had already activated the program for missing personnel at that point. With that said, years ago it would've resulted in being dismissed from the program with no delay. Today, Region is so short handed that it's pretty hard to get "fired" as long as your clearance is intact.

Kinda, those are still the requirements for guys going MSG as a B billet. There is a PEF code for direct assessions now as a Marine Guard at initial enlistment. Depending on manpower requirements and the individuals ability to pass the back ground checks/ hold the security clearence and complete the required training , they can be assigned to Security Forces PRP, or FAST, MCESG or to MBW to be either security at the Barracks/ Camp David or go to WHCA. All entering this pipeline will complete ITB after bootcamp and then go to follow on schools and if they either don't complete the training will go to a rifle BN or on completion of the initial duty are considered 03XX marines for follow on assignment.

    Interesting

I was guard at the barracks/camp David. That makes sense that add in MSG to that program.
