Today made me think to ask how your son is doing. Did he get through MSG school yet, or at least get notified of his first tour?

Thanks for remembering, he is my grandson.

He graduated boot but finished the Crucible with a stress fracture in his pelvis. The same symptoms/injury took him out of the last half of his final wrestling season in high school. Apparently, it hadn't healed.

He came home for boot leave then reported back to MCRD to what I would call medical holding company for treatment. I talk to him every week or so and it seems he is making the most of this setback, he's read a good portion of the Commandant's reading list and has gotten a couple of coins from different Recruit Battalion Commanders for volunteering to help with things. He went to the Marine Corps Ball, although it seemed weird that they had it before the 10th.

After he's released, he'll go to Pendleton for ITB, then on to MSG.
Adding nothing to the conversation since 2015....

When did that whole crayon eating thing start? When I was in we had C-rats with chocolate nut rolls and pound cake, and then the first MREs with some decent fruit cake, but we never had those gourmet desserts...
