The cool factor is considerable but...
an OTF is a lot safer.

I used to have one of those...but also a bottle opener version I played with more so I didn't slice off a finger.

Well yeah. I didn't buy it for serious use or carry though.

Somewhere I have a butterfly ink pen that Spyderco used to make. Now I must search for it.

I also bought a cheap butterfly knife back in the 80s. It was fun to play with but I eventually lost it.

These remind me of the same era of the pens that my dad and grandpa would get from the greasy auto mechanic shops and wrecking yards where if you turned the pen upside down, the girls shirt fell off.

Completely ridiculous now, but such a cool thing for kid.

I still have one of the Bradley versions; it works fine for fidgeting foolery.

I have no idea where my own 80s-era clunky pawnshop special BM knockoffs went. Probably gave them to high school and college friends who looked like Diane Lane.

I love it too. I watched it a lot when it was on cable. The soundtrack was great too. I wish it had done better and the sequels had been made.
Just a dog chauffeur that used to hold the dumb end of the leash.

One of the best bad movies ever made! There was a sequel from a different team a few years back but sounds like a total train wreck (Cody becomes a serial killer among other things) and never bothered to get it to watch.

The socially acceptable version is the Baliyo.
