The local Shire Reeve thought it would be cute to promise a recruit class that they would be out of the jail and on the street when they finished their probationary year.
Uh, no.
Welcome to 3 years in here, kid.
To no one's amazement and everyone's amusement it backfired, bigly.
That was the last 40+ recruit class ever( they had been graduating 2 of those per year and still struggling), and most of that class either left for another agency, or left LE completely. He's been dribbling out 15-20 recruits a year since.
I guess he never heard of the interwebs.

JeffCo? I was working with their Sheriff's Office security and bailiff side. Guarded county bldngs and I was at the courthouse and jail buildings. Even back then deputies stayed 2 years in the jail on average.
