For those that have an interest in either motorcycles, or custom building anything…

I recommend this bike blog—which is pretty much just straight up custom build porn. Always interesting to see how people fabricate pure art on two wheels.

    Today’s exemplar:

    Some other reasonably pornographic teasers:

I like those Hondas. My first real bike was a Honda CB1.

    Looked like this:

I would love to buy a modern crotch rocket and then make a cafe racer out of it. As much as the older bikes look cool, those flexing frames and forks are not up for apex strafing like the new stuff! Or just by a new-ish Triumph Speed Triple...

...alas, I am banned from buying motorcycles. My last was a 2006 R6 and it was a 15,800 rpm screamer (although the tach said 17,000 rpm at the start of red line).

OK one more, seen one of these? As a stock bike its pretty cool.

Incredibly, one of those CB-1 400s came up for sale in N Idaho a couple of months ago this summer. I was literally on vapors with regard to savings, or I would have made the trip to test ride and/or get it.

I briefly rode a used VP 701 at the dealer a year ago. What a riotous—in several uses of the word—bike. It’s like the thumper from hell. Weighs next to nothing, and produces horsepower that would scare a mid-size 80s sportbike half to death. The name is very appropriate, IMHO.

Ever since getting my eyes replaced, I’ve been jonesing hard for some sort of stripped-down, lightweight, weekend two-wheeled toy.

    Soon™️

PS. The one that got away…

I believe the second part, and will take your word on the first.

Some of those bikes look great in photos, but I think that a motorcycle without fenders is the equivalent of a custom 1911 that ejects spent casings right into the center of your forehead every time you pull the trigger

There are some seriously incredible fabrication gods on that website. It's pure porn as you said.

In my retirement, I'd love to learn to weld and work with metal. Unfortunately, my retirement is a long way off.

Ooof. Today’s build is a stripped down version of a Ducati Leggero (from the Italian for “light,” as in, weight). This one fits the definition perfectly. The bunk: I shall be in it…

I don't care if it's a bike. A Honda done in classic Toyota livery just ain't right.
