Some Interesting .38 Special Ammo Availability

Lucky Gunner has some NOS Federal .38 Special standard velocity LSWC. They're only selling it by the case, unfortunately. They also have some Black Hills HBWC - it's not cheap but it's available, and they have a good amount.

Those prices make me glad I reload. I just need to bite the bullet and buy some more SPP.

I bought a case of Federal 38C back when it was about $0.20/round. It was exceptionally accurate and mild. I have one box left.

At that “new” price, I’m not interested. I can duplicate that load with 3.5gr of W321 under a cast Hornady 158gr LSWC. Same price (or lower) per round as the old ammo, and no concerns about the load being discontinued.
Well, you may be a man. You may be a leprechaun. Only one thing’s for sure… you’re in the wrong basement.

Thanks for the heads up. This is my favorite J frame and Colt D frame load. It has been discontinued for a while. Last I bought was .36/round.

I use the Black Hills HBWC for snubby carry, and practice with handloaded Precision Delta HBWC in Starline Brass. Even at current primer prices, the practice ammo costs way less than the carry ammo. But the Black Hills has been 100% reliable over several years when I cycle out rounds that have been carried a while and fire them.

For LSWC, I still have plenty of those to reload.

My shipment from Lucky Gunner arrived yesterday.
The NOS Federal's have a little oxidation but the handfull I ran through a 2" snub shot very well...accurate and comfortable, as were the WC' s
