    Recommended Companies for Refinishing?

I wasn’t sure where to put this, so please feel free to move it to a more appropriate section if need be.

I have a milled slide that’s based on a factory stainless slide. When I got it milled I elected not to have it refinished because I kind of wanted a two-tone silver/black gun. I’ve decided I do not want that anymore. So, what I’m asking for is recommendations for refinishing services. I am agnostic on specific finishes with the exception of duracoat/cerakote — I do not want that due to poor wear resistance. Nitriding or PVD or some other super special coating I can be sold on is more of what I’m after.

    Thanks!

These guys do Ion Bond. I think that is a PVD coating.

I used CCR way back in 2015 to refinish a set of Beretta 92FS magazines in Cera-Hide. Those magazines got about six months of "duty" use being carried in an armed security role in a humid coastal environment with some salt air exposure and did not exhibit any rust (the OEM Beretta magazine finish would start getting rust in a couple weeks under similar conditions). Those magazines have seen occasional use in subsequent years and are still holding up great, though they're not exposed to those environmental conditions or daily wear.

I was very displeased with the poor communication with CCR, though. My credit card was charged twice for my order and it took multiple emails over the course of nearly six weeks to get the duplicate charge refunded, all without a hint of apology for the lack of responsiveness. Additionally, no tracking information was provided when my magazines were returned to me. They just showed up in my mailbox one day.

So, A+ for quality of work, F- for business practices. I hope the latter has changed.
