Securing a lightweight bench to a wall or floor makes it much more useful. Use some steel brackets and large lag screws.

As a renter in the past I owned both of these, and was happy enough with both. I still actually have the wooden one, although I’m trying to find a new home for it. One nice thing about the metal one is that it came apart easily for moving. Mine came with, iirc, 3/4” particle board for the top and 1/2” for the bottom shelf. I moved the stock too to the bottom, and installed 3/4” plywood on the top.

I did. As mentioned I used 3/4in plywood, may have even been two layers, for the top. I drilled some holes and used carriage bolts and wing nuts to install the vice so I could remove it when I wanted to and have a clear top. And lagged it into the wall stud for stability.
I’ve never been a fan of the vices that just clamp on.
