    It is definitely possible to damage a scope with too much clamping force.

    Sounds like it holds zero so it’s clearly not crushed.

    I would also run a box test to make sure the elevation and so safe tracked properly over a range of adjustment.

    If it passes a box test then high probability all is well.

    I second the box test. 5-10 rounds per adjustment.

    I use my cell phone. Download a level app. Remove phone from case. True your rail (I use badger dead level). Pull turret cover. Lay phone on turret while tightening ring screws. Every time I've checked this with 100m plumb, its dead nuts. Part of this is using quality optics that true to the turret cluster.
