    Hornady 9mm HAP Accuracy

    Hornady 9mm HAP Accuracy

Initial work-ups for the Hornady HAP bullets were done using a variety of 9mm defensive handguns, including the following:

    Heckler & Koch P7M8
    Kahr K9 Elite
    pre-Cohen SIG P226
    pre-Cohen SIG P229
    pre-Cohen SIG P239

Accuracy proof-testing of the Hornady 9mm HAP bullets was done using a Colt 6450 with a free-floated Noveske barrel. Groups from that testing are shown below.

    25 Yards

10-shot group of 115 grain HAP at 25 yards. Extreme spread = 0.62".

10-shot group of 121 grain HAP at 25 yards. Extreme spread = 0.499"

10-shot group of 125 grain HAP at 25 yards. Extreme spread = 0.413"

    50 Yards

10-shot group of 125 grain HAP at 50 yards. Extreme spread = 0.849".

The 125gr bullets are .356, so they should not be rattling down any 9mm barrels. Many 9mm service pistols are .356 in the grooves, so it's a good match.

Curious as to the load data, if you're willing to share.

I've been using N340 because I could never find N330 consistently. Both are extremely accurate w/124-125 grain HAPs as well as my practice round using 124 grain Precision Deltas JHPs.

A lot of other 9mm accuracy loads I've seen use Power Pistol, but I found it very loud and flashy.

HAP bullets are 115 at .355 and as mentioned the 125's are .356 made for the 38 super.

@Molon What powder are you using and roughly what COL for the 125 HAPs?

    Winchester Action Pistol

For most of my handguns I use a COAL of 1.100". Some barrels will need a shorter COAL.
