A child died after being attacked by a dog in Alabama Monday night, authorities said.

The 4-year-old boy was identified in a social media post and a GoFundMe as Beau Clark, the son of Kevin and Hailey Clark of Hartselle, Alabama.

“Please pray for the family of the child who was killed by a dog tonight in our community, as well as our Deputies, EMS, Coroner, VFD and Dispatchers that handled this call or responded to the scene. Tonight is hard,” the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office said Monday.

The sheriff’s office initially described the dog as a pit bull in a social media post, but later updated the post saying the dog was an Olde English Bulldog.

68-year-old Esther Martin of Woodford Green, England, was visiting her 11-year-old grandson in Jaywick on Saturday when she was attacked by two dogs inside a house in Hillman Avenue, police said.

However, despite police waiting for experts to confirm the breed of the dogs, Martin’s daughter Sonia Martin, 47, told the BBC that "there were adult XL bully dogs in the property."

Per the BBC, Sonia also believed her mother had been previously told by the dogs’ owner to "put a broom in among” the puppies “to distract them" when they started fighting. "That's when she was attacked,” she said.

She added that after her nephew "ran out of the house screaming for help," some neighbors used spades to try to "fight off" the dogs.
