Do you have a website for the company? I will look for anything I need from them until this gets sorted out.

Article hit the nail on the head, shutting down 46 year old company is a great way of building a gun registry. Rinse, repeat and thousands of stores later and they've got themselves quite the list...

One thing I've wondered for years. Just who do these brainiacs think is going to supply our military with arms when they achieve their stated goal of bankrupting all the gun manufacturers. This is just babystep #1 to that end, start with the sellers and the manufacturers will fall too.

Disagree, there will always be war somewhere in the world. The manufacturers will be thinned in all likelihood but the remaining will simply shrink, adapt and continue.

The goal has always been a registry, it's the step before confiscation. Take away 2A and you can kiss the 1st goodbye and welcome in pure evil to rule unchecked.

First, I would never base any off TTAG.

Second, I’ve seen things like this go both ways both with ATF and with FFLs.

In my experience some ATF offices are more aggressive and inflexible than others. So it’s certainly possible the story presented is accurate.

One thing in the article that is not accurate is there is “no appeal process.”

I’ve seen FFLs go through some form of probationary status. This is common enough that there are retired ATF industry inspectors who specialize in consulting with / assisting such businesses with getting their paperwork and legal compliance back in order.

If it does come to a revocation, the FFL can request an administrative hearing to contest the basis for the revocation. If that hearing results in a revocation there is a process to appeal that decision by filing a petition for review in U.S. District Court. And of course any US District Court decision can be appealed to the relevant US circuit court of appeals.

However, I have also seen some bad FFL’s including one well established, multigenerational shop, open for 7 decades Which was “run into the ground” when the grandson took over. What was a 100% reputable business for decades became known for inordinate numbers of straw purchases, guns showing up in Mexico and other irregularities.

We recently had an FFL here who was arrested on dozens of counts for NFA violations and aggravated identity theft. Essentially the FFL would steal the identity of customers who purchased NFA items on a form 4. Customer would come in, by one suppressor, the FFL would steal their identity and fraudulently file form 4s for several other NFA items in that customers name. When the fraudulently obtained Form 4s came in, the FFL would dispose of the item from his books as delivered to the customer but in reality he sold the NFA items illegally. Many of these NFA items turned up in Mexico.

    Oh fuck.

<knock, knock> Hi! We're the ATF, we'd like to talk about four suppressors you bought from JoeShitTheRagManLLC last year.

me: Uh, I only bought one supressor?

I'm reserving judgement on the one cited in the article. Ten years or so ago, we had a local chain of three or four stores shut down and everybody was screaming about jack booted storm troopers. Turns out they couldn't account for dozens of guns.
I was into 10mm Auto before it sold out and went mainstream, but these days I'm here for the revolver and epidemiology information.
