JP5 finally in production!

Super easy to do without tools.

Having never owned a centerfire MP5, I wasn’t sure what to expect.

Takes 15 seconds. Remove bolt, rotate two pieces. Swap one, rotate back.

Easy peasy. Like in the video it’s as easy as adjusting a gas block.

The 70* lock with the Eley PCC is magic.

Shot mine today with 115 FMJ Blazer Brass, 124 FMJ Super Vel certified and 147 FMJ Super Vel 900 fps. This was with the 80* lock piece.

The 147 was softer compared to my CMMG RDB with hydraulic buffer. Dot barely moved. Easy double to the A zone if you just have a tight hold.

The 124 has more recoil and the dot moved more.

The 115s had about the same recoil as the 124s, but the dot moved less.

My 70 and 60 lock pieces will be here by the weekend. Will be interesting. Looking to chrono different ammo and see what differences there may be.

BTW, this thing was shooting dead accurate, even with "store bought" ammo.

Finally installed the SD-G3.
JP has a proprietary safety so you have to replace the safety to work with the trigger.

To get the anti walk pins out you need two T8 Torx.

This is going to be sweet.

What makes Eley PCC… “PCC” exaclty? Slower powder or something?

I’ve never had any interest in MP5s after shooting (and cleaning) them. The operating system is too weird for me to feel proficient and I’m not interested in spending the time to learn the HK MOA. However this JP5 has me needing out on them big time just to learn about locking pieces and timing and whatnot.

However this JP5 has me needing out on them big time just to learn about locking pieces and timing and whatnot.

I’m not a reloader so I’m pretty ignorant on powder burn rates and such.

Overall it’s loaded milder. In an 8” MPX it makes just around 125 power factor.

In a handgun it’s subminor.

For example 150 Syntech in an 8” PCC is still around 150 power factor.

I’ve cleaned it twice.

Great platform and to me, the cleaning intervals are as long as my Shadow 2 or longer.

Super robust and doesn’t need any tweaking. Just runs and runs. I’m a fan.

Went burst fire so replaced it. Don’t know how many 10s of k rounds I’m at.

Probably could have gotten away with just changing springs but didn’t want to chance it going into the season.

Triggers are cheap compared to ammo.

Finally got my JP-5, the Steel Challenge model. Only shot it once, but am thrilled.

I zeroed it at 25 with Lawman 124, and it was under an inch for five shots. I shot some PMC 115, and it was softer but didn't shoot as tight.

What I like about the Lawman, is, it is a TMJ bullet, and I understand it will not lead the compensator. PMC will. I then shot some arrays with the PMC and Lawman, and expected the PMC would be faster. Surprisingly, the Lawman was sharper, but my times were faster. Obviously, I still have a lot to learn about this thing.

You might try the 70* lock block it takes some of the sharpness out of it.
