    Ahead of its time

I love seeing trends come and go, as people get good ideas but maybe the tech just isn't quite there yet.

This was a police officer's fighting gauge in the late 40s/early 50s. Self-loading, extended magazine, optical sight. Radical for the time, to be sure, but very forward-thinking.

I saw the email this morning and immediately wondered “Has LHS run this on the clock yet?”

And how! That gauge is money.

    I wish...

Honestly though I hate shooting Auto-5s. I've spent my entire life with my thumb placed on top of the stock so as to avoid hair-lipping myself, and that just means it gets jammed into that hump-back receiver, so as soon as I go on auto-pilot with one of those things I jackhammer my poor thumb.

That’s really interesting to see. I always get a kick out of Forgotten Weapons, especially when the subject is something you normally associate with modern firearms that turns out to be much older than expected.

I’d look for a classic late 40s suit and fedora to wear with that!

I’ve kind of wanted one of those Nydar dot sights since I found out about them.
