I just got off the phone with Sig and they said ALL P226 models are good to go. There is no compatibility issues whatsoever with any P226 regardless of age.

He did say the older P229 might have something to research but a P226 is good to go with either the Pro Cut or RPX replacement slides.

I have a few follow on questions on this topic. I've Googled it and found some relevant threads from other sites. The slide I will most likely purchase is the RPX model simply because I can't bring myself to actually like the slide cuts on the Pro Cut model. The downside to this plan is that it comes with an optic that I don't actually want. At this particular point in time I like Holosun a lot more but then again I am completely biased.

In the threads below they make mention of 'plates'.

    The plates:

I am not by any means an expert in optics footprints but for some reason I thought the Romeo Pro footprint was essentially the same as an RMR footprint, which in turn was also Holosun compatible. That said odds are my thinking has been wrong all along but I am getting my thoughts out here so I can know what I am getting myself into.

On my 365XL the optic just fits directly onto the slide. I am not opposed to using a plate but I am wondering if a Holosun optic would fit directly onto the RPX slide or not? Just wrapping my head around the problem before I start spending the money....

Another follow on question is about the optics themselves.

Currently the debate is between the 509T and the 507C. With the adapter plates I could go either way. The 508T also has the reticle that I like so that's optional as well.

What is the consensus between those and why would one be better or worse than the other? As far as I can tell the only difference is one is open and the other is closed. Aside from that is there any pros/cons there?

The 508t has a Titanium housing. The 509t is enclosed emitter, some people believe that to be advantageous. Personally I think getting 2 507c's is the way to go. When one goes down for warranty you'll have a second one already ready to go

So until someone like @GJM or another of the more SIG dot-informed guys comes around to give you more info or correct me, I’ll give you the info I have. I’m pretty sure the factory slides come cut for Romeo/Romeo 1 Pro optics. Which have the same footprint as the Delta Point Pro. So the plates you are referring to adapt the mounting holes for the Holosun and RMR (same footprint) to the R1P/ DPP cut slides. My understanding the Romeo based footprints are NOT compatible with Holosun/RMR.

I picked up a P226RX legion SAO last year and it is pretty freaking amazing. Has the Romeo 1 Pro and shoots excellent.

The original Romeo and The Romeo1 have a proprietary foot print. Older slides cut for this footprint such as early RX models can be re-cut on an aftermarket basis to accommodate an RMR /Holosun footprint.

The current SIG Romeo1PRO footprint is similar to the leupold DPP footprint. However they are one way compatible as one has two support posts vs four on the other. DPPs can be mounted to the Romeo1PRO cuts but the reverse doesn’t work.

There are adaptor plates which allow other optics to be mounted to the SIG PRO /Romeo1PRO cut.

The Holosun 407/507/508 use the same footprint as the Trijicon RMR/SRO. The Holosun 509 uses a proprietary / different mounting system with a crossbolt. To make things more complicated the 509 with the ACSS reticle appears to use a different footprint from the standard 509.

I had a Gen 1 509 on a plate on a 320 slide. Suffice to say the 509 sits high and with the addition of the plate it sat so high even suppressor height BUIS were useless. If you want a 509 I’d buy a spare slide and have it direct milled.

Some confusion may come from the fact SIG has had six different factory optics cuts on the P320s and two on the P226/229 (the original RX/Romeo and the PRO cut)

One of the SIG optics cuts (the R2 cut developed for a GOV contract requirement) does fit both the Romeo1PRO/DPP and the RMR/Holosun footprint but AFAIK it’s only been offered on the P320.

For classic P-series, the older stamped steal German slide cannot be milled.

For P226 9mm specifically, most of the slides have internal lightening cuts that goes pretty deep, so some shops won't mill it. Most the shops I asked said RMR cuts should be no problem.

    A good example of a P226 9mm RMR cut.

My personal P226 is at Impact Machine to see if it can be cut for a 509-ACSS direct mount. Mine slide was the variation with the deepest lightening cut so it can be very hard to work with, but I'll let you know if it ends up possible.
