You’re talking about two different types of guns. The P365XL isn’t the same kind of gun that the G19 is. The G19 is a good CCW carry gun because it’s a slightly smaller version of a great duty gun. It also functions as an acceptable duty gun. The P365XL is a great CCW carry gun. It’s not a duty gun. A much better analogue to a P365XL is the G43X/48 and the P365XL beats the crap out of those guns. I say that as someone who has been carrying Glocks on and off duty for almost a decade now.

I am getting to the point of trusting the 365xl that I wouldn't mind carrying it as a duty weapon with a 15 round mag or if the macro 17 rounders prove reliable carrying with one of those.

I just saw that the 17 round mags are basically the same size or smaller then the current 15s. I don't know how this works but not I want 17s with sleeves to fit in my XL.

Trust is one thing, but the objective performance in shootability is another.

I haven’t shot Glocks much recently so @WobblyPossum is a better resource but my impression is that the lighter P365XL slide compared to the G19 makes it more difficult to shoot at speed.

I aborted my Macro order because I compared another compact (X9) to even a gamified XL and it was no contest of how much better the X9 shot despite similar weight and overall size. I don’t expect the gap would change much with a Macro.

They probably completely removed the anti-tilt legs from the followers and maybe made the followers thinner. That's pretty much how all of these small high capacity mags works.

The G19 is in a “sweet spot” size wise between service guns and dedicated concealment guns such that the G19’s “Venn” diagram overlaps both to done degree. However that sweet spot existed before the G19 did. 3” K frame revolvers the S&W 669, etc were in the same “compromise” space earlier.

We are so used to conventional thinking about guns we are making a distinction between having a P365 XL and having a P365 macro.

    Modular guns are mission configurable.

Macro vs XL is merely how you wanna configure the gun for the purpose at hand. You are not stuck with one configuration or the other as things change.

Here is a picture from 2018, where I was doing the modular thing on 19/45, but the 365 takes that to a whole new level.

Gun people are a conservative bunch. New tech requires new thinking.

“The draft of that river may be too shallow.”

“Hell, we’ll pick you boat up and put it right where you want it.”

    “Air Cav son. Air Mobile!”
