Be safe, F. Keep your head on a swivel and watch out for your people. (As I'm sure you always do.)

Keep us posted. Hit me up if you care to.

General question, not specific to @Crazy Dane, but your post brought it to mind.

To me, pro-choice stirs different emotions than pro-abortion. It may be semantics but these two seem very different.

I should probably be using pro choice/ pro life but I'm am a simpleton when it comes to language. I think both sides can get pretty crazy. There is a pro life pregnancy center just down the street from the station that was vandalized and graffitied as stated in this artical https://www.theguardian.com/world/20...ers-attacks-us Same statement was painted on this one. This had to be a coordinated attack to hit all of these in on the same night.

Any way, we get extra staffing and our briefing from APD is at 1600.

Good luck brother. Can't say I'm unhappy that I'm out of the field and retired to dispatch, the way things are going.

Running down yesterday's events, just the highlights.

Prolife rally was a no show, less the 6 demonstrators reported

Prochoice rally had several hundred in attendance. 20 minutes into the rally a thunderstorm let loose. very few had the fortitude to stay.

APD officer assaulted and choked over questioning of a backpack. Situation was resolved very quickly with judicial use of OC and handcuffs by other officers.

No fire trucks were mortared like last year, but this year FD had LEO escorts into the hazard areas.

Bomb threat and devices found at the Vance monument. Believed to be real and also believed to have failed detonation Waiting on ATF to confirm. Suspects in custody.

Do not buy drugs in Asheville. My company worked 5 ODs and 4 of them stated they thought they were getting cocaine.

ETA- Governor Coopper showed up to speak at the prochoice rally but chickened out when there was report of him getting rushed.

    Nap time.

    Glad you made it through!

Do you know what the people who thought they were getting cocaine got instead?

As hard as they went down, fentanyl or carfentanyl. It is known problem here in Asheville.

I'm glad that the majority went unscathed. I hope the officer who got assaulted is doing well. I'd be interested to hear/read the breakdown on the devices found at the Vance Monument. Were there any escorted units going into Deaverview? I keep a couple doses of Narcan in my go bag due to IT's and the prevalence of the potent synthetic opioids. Be safe brother.

Deaverview is actually a quieter neighborhood now, a lot of eastern Europeans in there. I don't remember any calls to there. Pisgah View and Hill crest has all the hood rat activity. Even though we were busy, the FD really didn't get any of the typical 4th of July calls to those places that I remember and don't think any company actually called for the escort. Looking back at my earlier post I should have said "the Pd would make escorts available" but I had a bit of work hangover and brain fog.
