But you’re talking to the guy who cut down a P365 one to make a 171mm open mag…

I’m thinking of goofing off and seeing how many rounds I can fit in a 171 shadow….

The 9mm Czechmate 171s have ribs that restrict capacity somewhat so there’s a possibility of 28-29 in an S2 magazine that long…

I call that Uzi division where the magazine is longer than the slide of the gun….

    Because dumb.

No actually my thoughts are as following:

    1. In general I would rather have a 141 magazine than magazine plus extension when it comes to reliability. Less joints to hang up stuff.

    2. Same goes for 171.

    3. If I cut a 32 round body for a 141… could I use a thinner basepad floor than what extensions use? Would that buy me 24+1 in a carry optics configuration?

    4. My wife stole my Czechmates.

    5. If I wanted to shoot open, could I make a Shadow 2 Open gun shooting major and compensator that would be easy to go back and forth with a CO gun?

    So... Some thoughts:

Promag is mainly junk because of finish and soft metal. You could polish the mag tube, then fit a grams follower in there and truck on.
That's probably a better option than using the promag follower... But, you're then violating the first rule of tedium: don't polish a turd.

    Maybe a better idea:
Find a long Beretta magazine, re-cut the magazine catch hole and toss in a grams follower? https://grabagun.com/beretta-magazin...-9mm-30rd.html
The steel is better, should fit a CZ-75 pattern gun for the most part... (not 100% sure with the S2 grip/etc)

For $20, the ProMag is pretty low risk.

Did you see the thread where I made a 171mm P365 magazine?

I used P365 followers (the ProMag ones were crappy).

EDIT: it occurs to me that a friend gave me some 92 mags I can test fit…

I think the soft metal of the ProMag wouldn’t bother me as long as it drops free. It would probably be a special use item that would see any reloading. Just as a primary mag if shooting open.

But probably just sit on my counter with a bunch of other half baked projects lol.
