Wow. That is pretty deep.
I miss being a member of the USNI. I joined for uh work related reasons in 1983. Got a new first edition of this new fictional book by some guy, called The Hunt for Red October. Not a bad story, wonder what happened to that author.
Anyone interested in these ships and the brave men that manned them should read "The Last Stand of the Tin Can Sailors".

There's nothing civil about this war.
I'll add a voice to recommend it as well. It's an amazing book about amazing men who did amazing work under the harshest conditions.

Reach has a great video on the battle of Samar. It also works well as a podcast if you don’t need to see his well curated historical photos and maps.
