    Am I the only one...?

...that hates changing whole house water filters?

It's like a chore devised by satan. (Or one of those scientists that enjoys watching rats run back and forth through a maze.)

Don't mind it so much, but am always relieved when I am done, as long as it is not leaking.

Mine almost always weeps a bit since the on-off valve actuates the dreaded red button momentarily when opening and closing. Then the OCD kicks in and I have to check it a bunch of times to make sure it stopped.

    There's gotta be something better.

Sounds like you got something better. I have to shut the water off to the house and open the faucets to run the water out of the pipes. I am sure it is an easy upgrade, but it is way down on the list.

Looks pretty much like this one...

I turn off the water on the pipe coming from the pressure tank, run the shop faucet a bit...turn the valve on the top of the filter housing to "off", unscrew the canister with a filter wrench, clean the housing, put in a new filtrete 5 micron filter, and then reverse the process and hope for the best.

It's the anxiety over leaks and shit that drives me nuts...which can turn a fifteen minute operation into a frustrating sequence of undoing the whole thing, relubing the o-ring and making sure everything is seated just so. I make sure the dog is nowhere close just in case... LOL.

I moved my sister-in-law into her new condo this weekend.

I think the people that created dryer vent pipe / tube work in the same factory as the people you’re describing here…
    God Bless,

I'm going to let my ignorance show but.....what? Am I the only one who's never heard of house water filters? I've never heard of it, I've never heard of a problem because of it, I've never seen my dad change any or hire someone to change any. None of my friends have this....I just asked!
