Beretta APX A1 - Light & Red Dot Holsters

    Hello,

I'm interested in finally purchasing an Beretta APX A1. I'm waiting for the new Holosun offerings to become available before committing. Unfortunately, The holster situation for this pistol doesn't look great if you want to use BOTH a light and red dot. Since this is a full size pistol, I'm looking to get a duty style holster to replace my Safariland for the Beretta 92A1 w/ TLR-1HL. Here's what I've found so far. Please comment if you know of any more.

    Red Dot Only:
Plenty of holsters available directly from Beretta (https://www.beretta.com/en-us/collections/gun/apx/)

    Light only:
    Safariland ALS holster (https://safariland.com/products/mode...-holster-30587)

    Light & Red Dot:
Black Rhino Concealment custom holster (https://blackrhinoconcealment.com/sc...s-beretta.html)
"Universal" style IE: Floodlight, etc. (https://www.phlsterholsters.com/shop/floodlight/)

    Not sure:

Are you going to be using the duty style holster for actual duty?
Or more is a range holster?

I ask because there are companies such as ghost men designs and RDR gear who can modify Safariland RDS duty holsters to fit other guns.

This will fall under the range holster category.

You may know this already but unless the holster maker specifies the APX A1 I would be careful. I have both the 'A0' and A1 and the A1 will not fit a kydex holster made for the A0. The rail is completely different between the two. Maybe on a holster made for a mounted light this won't matter so much, I don't know.

Im currently winning a bid on an APX A1 on Gunbroker and didn’t realize how few holsters are available for these guns.

It seems none of my go-to holster makers are making one for them. I really would hate being stuck using those sub-par holsters from Beretta but may have no choice if it won’t fit in an A0 kydex holster.

Hmm, what is the differences in the frames? Was thinking of ordering an A0 frame and running an A1 slide so that I have more holster selection, but not sure if that is even possible.

The rail is different, the A1 rail is much more 'pronounced.' The angle isn't the best but you can see the frames side-by-side in this video https://youtu.be/WNGCHShHdmM

I just put my A1 slide on an A0 full size frame and the gun will not fit in to a kydex holster made for the A0. I actually thought it would but the profile of the slide itself prevents the combination from working. The holster was made by Red Hill Tactical if that matters. Sample of 1 and all that. This is annoying but I know a local kydex holster maker so I'll be able to get what I want custom made. There are a few A1 holsters on Beretta's website.

Thanks so much for the info! I really appreciate it. Looks like I’ll be having to bad one of those holsters on the Beretta site after all, really didn’t want to pay that much for a subpar holster but I will. Stinks that holster comparability isn’t the same.

I just realized this thread should be in the Gear section. Mods, feel free to move if needed. TYIA
