This comp might be a little less blasty than the triple port and still protect the baffles some.

Like the others here I have an 11.5” with a birdcage that’s not unpleasant outdoors, even under an awning. And yes it’s a stupid fun and capable blaster that can make hits way further than 5.56 is terminally effective.

As posted in our shorty AR thread.

That is super cool! Thanks for posting it!

I love my 11.5” Adams Arms upper on my truck gun.

Used to have a Griffin Taper Flash Hider, with the Taper Blast Diverter… but couldn’t pull the piston out of the gas block with it in place. Swapped in an A2, then A2 adapter for my Bushwhacker 46. I put a .30 end cap on it, which doesn’t do a bad job at suppression nor does it make it a gassy mess. I tried the suppressor setting on the piston… wouldn’t function.

Shot of it in the new locker.

Yanked the LAW folder and have to run a 20 round PMAG for it to fit… but ran that 20 rounder since I built that truck gun in 2019. Love the few straight 20s I have.

    Bit the bullet

Decided to just accept it for what it is and put a can on it.

Is “put a can on it” our version of Portlandia’s “put a bird on it?”

    I had to Google that.

    Can runs…

So zeroed a NF NX8 on the 11.5” and put a 5 shot group from a bag rest at 25 yards. Target paster is 1”.

I know I could do better with a better rest.

Also broke out the professional grade sound meter and checked indoor volume with a can.

About 151 dB even with a large can.

Next time I’ll bring the 300 BO too.

Dude, have you done much rifle shooting past 100 yards? Because that set up would be a lot of fun out to 300+ yards on steel if you have access to range that goes that far.

I think 25 yards is the longest I’ve shot long guns!

I might try some prone rifle shooting out at distance to work on 2 gun type stuff.

My local range goes out to 300 but I’ve never shot a long gun there!

My first use of a magnified optic and it was awesome to be able to see the target, lol.

No pressing need for a magnified optic at 300 unless you're trying to shoot tiny targets. Its impressive how well you can do with a dot.

Hehe. I like getting immediate visual feedback so I like the idea of the rifle scope as spotting scope while I’m learning.

I was going to try and hit head sized targets at 300. But mainly I like seeing the hits in real time.
