I buy Cool Hand grips for duty carry.

Being a tad wider than most, I bang my grips on door frames.

I would be mad if they were my 10-8 VZs, so it's cheap grips on duty.

They are not bad for 20-30 $ range and I dremeled a deeper scoop on mine.

Just a general reminder - G10 dust is not something you want to inhale. Recommendations range from masking to wetting the material.

Ref torque values for grip screws, I finally went to the Challis web site. They appear to know what they are doing. Their information is very good, including a set of Q and A on grip screw O-rings, why they are used, and some recommended install torques:

Thanks, I've OD'd on 1911 disassembly videos, and am pretty sure I can get it apart, completely, down to the naked frame. My issue is putting it back together so it works.

But seriously, yeah, I'll have to work up to it, but I need a bit more hands-on and knowledge to get able to do stuff like installing a trigger or fitting an ambi safety. That can come later. This design isn't exactly a Glock, where just about any numpty can drive out a pin and take the gun apart. Right now, I'm happy just to enjoy shooting it and tinkering with cosmetic stuff like grips.

I am a short trigger user. I use an arched mainspring and short trigger on most of my guns. It feels best for me. Others prefer the long trigger and flat mainspring housing like on your gun.

Here is the combo I use.

    Rich,

Both of my 1911's have short triggers and arched mainspring housings.
