My 4506 also has the adjustable sights and rivals my Colt Gold Cup accuracy wise. Also like the option of using it double action.

I don't need a .45, but I have a couple because options are important. I have a 1911 because if you are shooting .45, there are more .45 1911 mags, parts and holsters than there are for any other manufacturer. I have/had a Gen 1 M&P45, that I have sold to a friend and waiting for him to pick it up. I recently bought an M&P 10mm 2.0 when it went on sale and I'm not disappointed in the least. I recently put together a .45 conversion because I still had magazines and....options. If I can't get 10mm, or it is too expensive (the 10mm will function just fine with .40 S&W), I wanted the flexibility. Took it to the range this morning for testing and all is good. If anyone is interested, you need a .45 top end, a .45 2.0 locking block and the .45 2.0 slide stop.

S&W has moved on from 3rd generation. Same with Sig 2xx series. HK45 is still in production. If you need service or parts you can get that.

I'm not saying it isn't a worthwhile effort. I have discontinued Sigs. One just needs to factor parts into the equation.
In the P-F basket of deplorables.

    HK USP 45

    HK USP 45

    Thank you DB and GJM.

I carried 1911s for 10+ years, went through Jeff Coopers school in 1982 with 1911s.
    I carried GL12, GL30, GL17,GL19 for 23 years (1990-2013).
    I carried P30 LEM V1 9mm 2013- 2019 approximately.
Now I carry HK USP 45.

I now use HK USP 45s because

    1. You can buy 10 of HK USP 45 and 80 magazines and they will all work together. Not a theory BTDT.
This was not my 1911 experience with Colt , Kimber ,Springfield Armory, Wilson, Les Baer, Ed Brown.

    2. HK USP 45 is more reliable with more ammo types. It works from the factory.

    3. HK USP 45 is more durable. Very overbuilt.

4, HK USP 45 will shoot as well or better than 1911s without being finicky, Tacticals and Experts in particular are match accurate and combat reliable.

5. HK USP 45 with match trigger carried cocked and locked or LEM / Match are my preferences.

6. 12 round magazine is a good thing. Also SOLUM TOOL +3 Bases work flawlessly, good for reloads.

    7. Even a tactical or expert HK USP 45 is much cheaper than a good 1911.

8)You can use .45 Super, 230 grain at 1100fps, as a woods gun load.

    9. USP 45 fits my XL bony hands, finger joints match front grip frame corners with forearm centered in line with grip. USP does not twist under recoil like more founded ergo grips.

————————————————————————————
    HK USP 45 DOWNSIDES:

    1) Harder to detail strip/ change parts. HOWEVER they do not need as much parts replacement and parts do not require fitting.

    2) XL hands help.
I have XL hard bony hands and a HK USP 45 fits me perfectly.
With HK USP 45 aligned with shooting hand forearm, my finger joints are where the front grip frame corners are.
This gives a secure grip that resists twisting etc... very well. Much more secure in my hands than ergo grip P30 or HK45.

if you have smaller hands, P30 or HK45 may fit you better. YMMV.

    3) HK USP 45 is thicker than a 1911.

    YMMV

The 4506 I owned was the most accurate 45acp I've ever owned. Changes the fixed rear to an LPA adjustable. Thing was a tack driver.

This. For about a year I've been hunting down a 645 and/or a 4506 for Miami Vice and 90's nostalgia. Strictly collection and the occasional range trips, probably never carry....probably.

For an actual non1911 shooter though, I like my HK45c but would be tempted for a used G21.

Man, I was doing some handload testing for .45 ACP and I have gotta say...the HK45 has some very impressive accuracy. Shooting it next to a Glock 21 and a RRA 1911 I found it on par with the RRA.

To compare...I have shot legitimate 1.5 inch 5 shot groups with the RRA. And the Glock 21 is an exceptionally accurate pistol, no doubt more accurate than most guns Glock makes. I am certainly the limiting factor here between both guns. The LEM trigger lends itself well to slow fire accuracy, but even failure drills seemed pretty effortless.

It's my first HK and I am very impressed with the accuracy on this gun and how easy it shoots.
