I as a German gun owner think, the NRA is very important for the gun rights of the US citizens. I wish we in my country had such a strong gun lobby. Only a few days ago, I wrote, we have a good car lobby and so we have "Freie Fahrt für freie Bürger" on the Autobahn.
Why don't you like WLP? Since I don't live in the US, I don't know much about him. But I like the sentence that he made famous (although I doubt he invented it):

This blog has lots of links and summaries of court filings. The NRA has been in litigation with lots of people, has filed for bankruptcy-rejected. Has been sued by NY Attorney general over non profit issues. Their biggest budget item is paying for the litigation. Multiple people at the top, current and past, have been caught at, and admitted malfeasance in depositions and at the bankruptcy.
