Thread: Prefered combat grips for K frame?

  1. #11
    Mine are all square butt.

Lost River, those grips look really good, I assume that is similar to Jordan Troopers without the back strap covered. I definitely prefer open back strap.
I know the Jordans would be too big for my hand.

Not sure about smooth vs. checkered.

They are substantially smaller than the Jordan Troopers. I have had Troopers before and even with my size XL hands they were simply too large for me to do good DA trigger work (on an N Frame). After that I started using Ropers and other types. The Ropers were substantially easier to do double action shooting with.

Lost River, what are your thoughts on the checkered vs smooth?

If I was shooting heavier, top end .44 mags/.45 Colts I would want something less aggressive. Mid range .44s/45s they would be fine. For .38/.357 loads, they are great and they are quite comfortable to shoot.

Normally I go with smoother grips on N frames, but for a K Frame, these are perfect.

How many times do I have to say it?

    Uncle Mikes

Uncle Mikes are great but I think they're out of business. I tried to find a new set for my mod 36 and no luck. I have those on an old Taurus 85. That's the reason I wanted them for my 36.

I have some Ahrends on my mod 19 that I like but they went out of business also. Should have bought about 10 of these when they were in business. Who Knew?

In the P-F basket of deplorables.

You’ll get as many answers as hand sizes…

I like Hogue, Spegel but I haven’t tried some of the others mentioned.

However, the fit is superb. Medium profile in the undercut zone - less than T Grip, but more filling than splinter grips or even a bit more than Banana grips IIRC. They have a smooth enough surface to avoid grabbing cover garments but just enough subtle texture to allow a sufficient grip for smooth double action pulls.

They are a Goldilocks zone for me at AIWB.

I have some smooth custom-made Herretts and a no-name wooden boot grip. They are much more attractive to my eyes than the Hideouts, but no more effective.

I like the eagle grips secret service, especially for squarebutt guns.
