Brass hangs up on decap/resize die

On my Hornady LNL AP, I'll have maybe 50% of the brass (9mm) on the first station not line up perfectly on the decap/resize die, requiring a little nudge from my finger in order to go in. This happens less frequently on my Lee Classic Turret press but it still happens. It's so common that my hand naturally comes up to the brass as I raise the ram in anticipation of needing to guide the case. The shell plate is indexing correctly so that's not the problem.

Anyone else experience this on their press?

    A few possibilities:

Some dies are less forgiving of alignment. I use the Lee small base resize die.

Is there some issue with your shell plate? Is there crud in the channel that holds the case?

Is your shell plate retainer spring worn out?

Suggest taking the plate off and cleaning it really well.

as mentioned, some dies are less forgiving....not a big deal. I think Hornady makes one with a wider mouth. Give them a call.
