    40 S&W Browning Hi Power

I sent my 40 S&W Browning Hi Power to Don Williams @ The Action Works for the modifications outlined below. This will be one of my duty pistol’s. I sent Don several emails with pictures of thumb safeties and reshaped hammers I preferred. The pistol already had Heinie Slant Pro sights installed by my local gunsmith friend. Don's work

    • Re-shape and skeletonize factory hammer
    • Hi-Power reliability package
    • Trigger take-up & over travel modification
    • Fabricate extended thumb safety
    • Bevel magazine well
    • Smooth-Out package
    • Stipple front strap & back strap
    • Serrate back of slide to match Heinie rear sight serrations
    • Hi Cut front strap
    • Crown barrel @ 11 degrees & polish
    • Flatten & serrate top of slide
    • Add 14K-Gold Bead to front sight
    • Refinish in DLC – Polish Slide Sides
    • Mill the Heinie Slant Pro rear sight to enhance one hand clearing
    • Blend the front sight base to better follow the contour of the slide
    • Inspect five 40 cal. Magazines

Here is the final results. Quite impressed with the quality of Don’s work.

Beautiful pistol. I believe that HiPowers are one of the best looking pistols in history. Especially a good custom HP.

    Nice blaster there.

It takes me back to the late ban-era days when that pistol always seemed like one of the best compromises between size and capacity for a .40. Unfortunately they were way out of my budget at the time.

    Beautiful.

I love that it's simple and understated. It doesn't scream that it's special... it just kinda nods and winks--and you know. Kinda makes me want to get some work done on my Hi Power.

That front and backstrap stipple, custom safety, combined with the blend and serrate the entire rear is some very good gunsmithing. This fills my envy bucket.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, you had me at "gold bead front sight." When Obi Wan talks about his light sabre, I picture a Hi Power like yours. Well done, sir.

Elegant is the word that comes to mind.

@Pit Is that black or a very dark blue job? It's very nice whatever it is.
