Thread: Thoughts on the Glock 19x?

    Thoughts on the Glock 19x?

So I'm interested in a Glock. I know there is the 17 and the 19 as the two most popular and reliable 9 mm out there. But also doing some research I know they have the Glock 19 X which is sort of a combination of the 19 and the 17. I personally wish it was kind of backwards with the 17 slide on the 19 frame, if that makes sense. But for those who owned the 19 X what are your thoughts?

Not very bright but does lack ambition
Don’t forget to look at the 45 if you like the 19X.

I have a 19x and I would rather have a 45 because of the magwell lips

I really like mine. I need the 17 size grip. I wear mine AIWB and appreciate the shorter slide. Probably the only Glock I own that I’ve never considered selling or modifying

I prefer the Glock 45 for the aforementioned magwell and because you can get it with MOS (no such luck with the G19X). You can even get a G45 MOS with FDE frame...

The GLOCK numbering system is generally sequential chronologically. That is when a new model comes out, a new number comes up. Exception is the 19X(“Crossover” in their marketing) which is a commercial version of one of the military submissions. It has a 17 sized frame with a 19 length slide. No provision for mounting an optic.
G45-same size dimensions-is in black, with an optic ready(MOS) version-G45MOS. On a timeline, it came after the rimfire G44.
It’s my current choice for a duty sized piece with an optic. I have both-prefer the G45. If you don’t want to get into the dot life, just put irons of your choice on it. The 19X won’t take GEN5 mags with an extended lip; works fine with regular base plates.
For me, I don’t note the shorter sight radius with a dot. I’ve kept both on a “C”sized steel silhouette out to 50 yards. Passed quals with both, etc.
My issue G45 runs an optic, currently a 1st gen ACRO, FWIW.
