Finished episode 2... Very entertaining so far.
I do find his marbles in the mouth speaking style mildly annoying, but only minus a half star annoying.

I'm going to quibble: The story line is different (so far) from the book and it's just...messier. And not in a good way.
If we have to march off into the next world, let us walk there on the bodies of our enemies.
Are the flashback scenes reliable narration?
The scene after the retaliation in Ep 4 had his future aged wife commenting on it's import over his shoulder.
Neither my wife nor I could muster the gumption to watch this week's episode after last week's debacle...so...
...this old man is out.
There's nothing civil about this war.
So a cliffhanger finale with a big reveal.
Not...bad.
I think it was oversold as an action thriller series when it's more about the past haunting the present. It reminded me of All the Old Knives in that regard.
There was a little too much reverence for Bridges and Lithgow chewing the scenery together a'la Pacino/DeNiro in Heat.
