    Shot My S&W 617 Today

I decided to test some CCI Standard Velocity and CCI Blazers out of my S&W 617 today. The purpose of the exercise was to see how many loads with my DS-10 Speed Loaders I could make before extraction became a problem.

First up were the SV rounds. I shot 10 reloads, 100 rounds, and the final 10 slipped out of the cylinder with ease.

Not so much the case with the Blazers. I loaded my first DS 10 with 10 rounds of 40 grain CCI Blazer and shot them. Accuracy was as expected, I kept the all in the 4 inch X zone of a Bianchi Target at 15 yards off hand. I couldn't extract the cases after the first loading. Too much carbon which I should have realized just from all the smoke the rounds produced.

I went on to shoot the 100 rounds but extraction got worse as I went.

I now know I can use the SV ammo for Steel Challenge Matches. It's accurate and the cases easily extract.

I love those things. I want to get one and get an ergonomic/anatomic grip on it for bullseye type shooting.
