Thank you for that. I’ve had some anxiety around this move for some reason.
Dayton is the same way, the downtown is becoming nice, but there are surrounding areas that you need to keep you powder dry, then out to the suburbs that are typically nice, except for the ones that are not... [emoji41]

    Delware is home to Blackwing:

Clinton County is a great range that would be a bit of a drive but where I shoot three gun and some others here are members:

Wow had no idea about Blackwings, that’s awesome. One of the things I told my wife I wanted to do with all that the new job afforded us was to train more.

I’m about an hour or so from Columbus. I host some good trainers at my PD range. Many of which are open enrollment classes. PM me your email address and I’ll add you to my email list for upcoming trainings.

I'm about 2 hours east of Columbus and don't go there often so I can't help you with local info, but here are some ranges that have several different kinds of matches.

Pickaway County Sportsman near Circleville https://www.pcsirange.org/

    Rayners Range near Zanesville http://www.raynersrange.com/

    Briar Rabbit near Zanesville https://www.briarrabbit.com/

I've shot quality matches at all of them.

    Thank you, I appreciate that.

If you’re into long range rifle shooting, Thunder Valley Precision is maybe 90 minutes from Columbus.

Might be worth noting (also @rob_s ) that the center of the state is flat, so there are not so many awesome outdoor rifle and pistol options until you get away from town, but there are a buttload of clay sports options (including Blackwing and several others that have been mentioned).

This thread has been fun for me, making me consider the density of options for shops and ranges and clubs. There are enough shooters here that some pretty nice ranges do get constructed, even if they have to defy the natural topography and push dirt into piles. Once you get to the SE it is more like WV, once you get to the NE it is more like PA, and once you get to the SW (south of me, damn glacier...) it gets more like KY. This also makes for better riding and driving roads.

There are some really great natural areas and parks about an hour away toward Logan. The landscape completely changes through the Hocking Hills and there are a bunch of 'cave systems' that are really more like epic ravine systems that end in very large open caves. The area is known for its twisty roadways that motorcyclists love. As I recall, this whole area from the Hocking Hills through the Wayne National forest looked like it catered to camping and nature tourism pretty extensively.

Ash Cave and Old Man's Cave are a couple of the natural areas I recall by name. They were free access at the time I was there. Perfect for family day hikes. I need to get back there again on a motorcycle someday. That was one of the few areas in the Eastern US I could imagine myself living someday.
