I thought I would post a summary from 10k rounds on my MPX PCC:
Setup:
8” SBR Gen 2 MPX
150gr Syntech which chronos at ~1000 fps.
Stock gas system.
-25% recoil springs from In Lead We Trust.
30 round magazines with TTI basepads, stock springs.
General philosophy:
When shooting weaker than designed ammo, need softer springs in the system.
-25% recoil springs add back margin and reliability.
You could also get that with a larger gas port, but I’m going for gaming softness.
With a weaker spring, the gas system does have to be clean and the bolt clean and lubed to prevent malfunctions.
Weaker magazine spring tension helps too (stock springs with the extra length of the basepad) as the bolt system doesn’t have / store the energy to strip the next round efficiently with the weaker springs, so vet your mags and break them in as well.
This combination works with ridiculously weak mag springs as well. If the magazine is going to induce a FTL, it’ll be with a full or nearly full magazine most of the time. The flat nose 150 Syntech is probably the most vulnerable to that kind of malfunction in a way that round nose or copper plates is not. There’s a reason why Syntech PCC was made with a round nose. That being said, that’s the ammo I had sitting around so that’s what I tuned for.
