I was shooting the LCR some more yesterday. Some extraction is a little sticky. I could lift 7 fired brass out of the chambers with my fingernail and the last one I had to use the ejector. I think it was only one chamber. I'll probably find a way to lightly polish that chamber.
I replaced the factory sight with a HiViz green fiber optic sight that is supposed to only work with the 38/357. Using a drive the dot it hit pretty close for me. Closer than the factory sight using the top of the blade. My left handed, left eyed wife joined me and started to shoot the LCR. With her vision she was constantly hitting center using drive the dot. We need different sight settings and can't use each others guns very well. I've probably lost another gun.
We fired around 150 rounds of mixed ammo.
So…….when I sell guns I usually tell the buyer if they ever plan to sell again to please give me first right of refusal. With that said I’ll have a 640 Pro again….round 3.
However life has changed. I recently moved to a more “urban” area but I still like walking quite a bit and I prefer to do so in gym attire. So I ordered up a Specialist Covert belt and City Special holster (also getting back the JMCK I sold with gun) to wear under said clothing. As it turns out a steel J frame may end up making sense after all. But don’t me wrong I may try a 1911 with the covert belt too for science or whatever.
Currently the 442 fills the niche in a belly bad style holster but I want something more secure but less fiddly than the enigma.
Smith and Wesson model 38,ammo Winchester 110 grain Silver tip.
With the Dave Lauck sights on my 342pd I was able to shoot a few cylinders worth in a group about the size of a fist at 12 yards. That’s shooting moderately quick but nothing crazy. It’s a big improvement for me though.I always struggled to put the XS sight in the gutter the correct depth consistently and wouldn’t want to do it under stress.
I shot about 50 rounds of the HST and had one of the cases split. Not sure what to make of that. Other than that it is a fairly soft shooting round compared to the Gold Dots I also tried.

You may want to give the Philster Enigma a try.

There has been some discussion about the reliability of 22 LR ammo. I have a story.
Several days ago, I was taking the "stuff" out of the pants I had been wearing to put on a clean pair of Duluth pants. I carry a Speed Beez loader for my 43c in the right ruler pocket. When I pulled it out there were only 7 rounds of Velocitor in it. I couldn't find the errant round. Until today, as my wife was doing the laundry. As she took a load out of the dryer, she said "here's a round of 22 that didn't go off in the dryer". It was my round of Velocitor that had been through the washer and dryer. I stuck it in my LCR 22,went out on the back porch, fired it and it hit the target. I'd say it's pretty reliable.
I'm new to revolvers and just recently started shooting an LCR. I've been extremely pleased with how it shoots, but practice with the LCR (with Rogers grip) seems to ruin my index with a P365 XL. I index the Sig very low after using the LCR for a time.
Does anyone else have this problem?
How do you manage the different index going back and forth between a snub and a autoloader? Did your brain simply adjust over time or is there a trick to it?
22 revolver chambers have a crud ring which is buildup near the end of the case. Over time the ring can cause extraction problems. Removing it requires effort. You mentioned shooting Stingers. These have a slightly longer case. You can use fired Stinger cases to remove the crud ring. Insert these into the chambers. The case mouth acts as a round knife edge and reams away the crud ring.
I owned several Smith 22 revolvers. All had extraction issues. Other revolver brands did not. I have noticed that some ammo brands were more difficult to extract than others.
