Thread: Canik Rival

    I got a Canik Rival steel frame and am very impressed. Seems what the Walther Q5 SF should have been. Canik pistols get better and better each year.

    Look at the difference between the PDP and Rival. I really despise the flat on the beaver tail on the Walther. Canik has rounded that whole area which allows you to get quite a bit higher on the pistol.

    The Rival S comes in an impressive case with every accessory you could imagine. Great value for under $900.

    @GJM

    How would you describe the balance of the steel frame version?

    When I got my polymer frame Rival last year I shot it a bit, then installed the Taylor Freelance big honking brass backstrap and it completely changed (for the better in my view) the balance of the pistol.

    I always found the polymer Rival to be top heavy and the steel Rival feels great. Think it was 39.something without a mag but with the Romeo 3 XL.

    Well?!? Let’s see some shooting reports vs your Glocks. What’s the hold up?

    Went full Canik fan boy

    Just to let people know Canik is building a factory in Florida.

    As soon as I tried the trigger and looked down the sights of the Canik TP9 Elite SF I was hooked that it was in Patriot Brown was a big plus. Best color IMHO. Picked up 2 more of the Elite SF. Another for me and one for a brother. Also have a an Elite SC in Patriot Brown a Mete MC9 in black. Last and newest is a Canik SFX Rival S in chrome. All triggers are great the fiber optic sights excellent the fat dot are good. Trigger pull on all the Elites is around 3.5 the Rival S is 2.5 while the MC9 is around 5 which shows Canik is paying attention to it being a carry pistol. All run great so far as long as you don't run the low power 115 fiocchi dynamic range. That is some garbage ammo.

    Right off the bat I shot the Elite SC better than my CZ P10 S as well as shooting the MC9 better than the Sig P365

    Here's the Elite SF in Patriot Brown

    And the Rival S

    2nd Trip to the range 110 rounds Blazer Brass 115 at 45'. 21 and 30 were to easy. Gotta work on my trigger control.
